Windows Vista comes with a new performance feature called Vista ReadyBoost. This feature allows you to use your USB flash drives as temporary memory instead of the regular HDD pagefile. As USB drives are faster than hard disk drives, using readyboost can improve your system performance when you are low on installed RAM.
To Enable ReadyBoost :
1. Insert USB device.
2. Go to My Computer, right-click on the removable storage device and select Properties.
3. Click on the ReadyBoost tab.
4. Select Use This Device and set the amount of space to use for the system file.
5. Click OK.
Please note that ReadyBoost require the flash drives to meet special system requirements. They are :
- Read rate must be at least 3.5 MB/ Second.
- Write rate must be at least 2.5 MB / Second.
